It was celebration galore at the meeting of the Provost and Medical Director, Dr. Timothy O. Adebowale with members of staff the first in the series for year 2019.

The meeting held on Wednesday 16th January, 2019 at the Ultra Modern Cafeteria of the Hospital by 1.00pm started with opening prayer. 

With the prayer said and done, master of ceremonies at the event and also the Public Relations Officer of the Institution, Mr. Joseph O. Abiola, Ajibola introduced the Top Management Team to the high table comprising, Dr. Timothy O. Adebowale (Provost and Medical Director) Dr. Gbolagade, Amoo (Head, Clinical Services) Dr. Peter, O. Onifade (Head, Research and Training) Mr. Richard, K. Fadiran (Head of Administration and Secretary to the Management Board of the Hospital) Mrs. R. A. Adelanwa (Head of Nursing, Clinical).  The Head of Servicom and Quality Improvement Services and Chairman Provost and Medical Director’s Staff Merit award for year 2018, Dr. A. A. Agboola and Dr. (Mrs.) O. A. Amoo (Director of Pharmacy) and Chairman, Provost and Medical Director’s Neatest Ward Award Committee were also invited to join the team on the high table.

In his opening remarks at the two in one event which was staff meeting and presentation of awards to the Neatest Wards both in Aro and Lantoro and Best Staff Awards in different categories, Dr. Adebowale welcome all the members of staff to the meeting and he used the opportunity to appreciate staff for sustaining the management’s effort at providing excellent Clinical Service delivery, research and training in a professional manner with dint of hard work coupled with integrity.

Reviewing the activities carried out by the management of the Hospital in year 2018, the Provost informed the meeting that early in year 2018 a new management Board for the Hospital was constituted by President Muhammed Buhari, the commander in Chief of Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Head of the Board is Hon. U. M. Balkore.  Furthermore, Dr. Adebowale, informed that the Board had its inaugural meeting earlier in the year under review in the Hospital.

Speaking further, the Provost maintained that the Hospital in the year under review did Promotion and Conversion for the eligible members of staff who are already enjoying the new status with its financial implication.  Also, he stated that appointment of new staff for both junior and senior staff were done in year 2018 to fill the vacancies in critical areas of need in the Hospital and those employed are settling down to contribute their quota to maintain the standard already attained by the Hospital.

In the area of Capital Projects, the Provost said that the Management was able to carry out two major projects for the Hospital in year 2018 and they are the expansion of Assessment and Emergency Unit and renovation of Out-Patient Clinic (O.P.C.).

In his action plan for year 2019, the Provost stated that the Management is planning to purchase a brand new generator for the use of the Hospital and also a brand new coaster bus will be purchase for the School of Psychiatric Nursing Aro and by extension the Hospital.  He said further that so many projects have been captured in the 2019 budget for the Hospital and these will be done, when the budget is passed and fund release for the execution.

The Provost also said that part of the action plan of the Management for year 2019 is the production of Annual Report for year 2018.  He stated that all heads of department should send their departmental reports to the office of Head of Servicom and Quality Improvement Services so that the annual report could come out in stated time frame.

Also, Dr. Adebowale hinted that promotion exercise for both the junior and senior staff of the Hospital for year, 2019 will also be done this year and that after the exercise the Management may also fill the vacant slots in critical area of the Hospital through appointment.

The major highlight of the meeting was the presentation of Provost and Medical Director’s Merit Awards for year 2018.

The first set of wards that were presented at the meeting after careful examination by the committees constituted for that purpose was the Neatest Wards Awards and the first position of Neatest Ward in Aro complex went to Female Ward II while the 2nd position went to NHIS Staff and Community in Aro.  A cash gift and plaques was presented to the winners.

The first Neatest Ward in Lantoro Annex went to Male Ward 5 while Firm B Female section got the 2nd position as the Neatest Ward in Lantoro Annex and they both got Award plaques and gifts courtesy of the Provost and Medical Director.

The meeting got to a high note when the Best Staff of the year 2018 were called in four different categories.  The Best Junior staff went to Mr. T. O. Oduga, Senior Motor Driver/Mechanic Grade One, while the Best Resident Doctor went to Dr. S. O. Olaniyi, a Registrar in the Hospital.

Also, the Best Nurse for year 2018 went to Mrs. O. B. Olugboji and the Best Senior staff for year 2018 went to Mr. A. A. Adesanya Principal Confidential Secretary II.  The entire Provost and Medical Director’s Award winners for year 2018 were presented with cash gifts and customized plaques.

Dr. S. O. Olaniyi, giving the vote of thanks on behalf of all the awardees appreciated the Management for the award and all the members of staff for the support and team effort that earn them the awards.

 The Provost and Medical Director, Dr. Timothy O. Adebowale, Top Management Committee, and the entire members of staff of the Hospital hosted the 2018 edition of Nine Lessons and Carols in grand style.

The event which took place on Thursday 20th December, 2018 at the Ultra Modern Cafeteria of the Hospital at Aro, by 4pm in the evening started on a sonorous note with organ voluntary and introit:  Let there be peace on earth by the popular guest choir in attendance, Egba Musical Society.

Thereafter, the chairman of the committee that planned the 2018 edition of Nine Lessons and Carols, who also is the Hospital’s chaplain, Pastor Anthony O. Ogbebor led the congregants at the service in opening prayers and supplication for the clients of the Hospital, Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, and Nigeria as a whole.

With the prayers and supplication over, the host choir, Mount Zion chapel choristers in the Hospital led the congregation in high praises with deep worship and thanksgiving to God, spiced up with melodious instruments from the instrumentalists at the occasion.

The high point of the carol service was the reading of the Ninth Lesson at the occasion by the Provost, Dr. Adebowale and other lessons were read by the invited dignitaries from nooks and crannies of Ogun State and some of the lessons was dramatized by the drama group from the Occupational Therapy Department of the Hospital which centre on the essence of Christmas which is the birth of Jesus Christ.

In his sermon at the Carol Service with the theme “Behold, A king is Born”, Rev. (Prof.) Onadeko, the District Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church, Ita-Oshin represented at the occasion by Rev. Abikoye, the chaplain of Mcpherson University, Ajebo, Ogun State gave a vivid description on how Jesus Christ was first born as a child on this earth before he became a man that saved the whole world from sin.

Side attractions at the carol service were the melodious delivery of congregational carol, special ministrations from the choirs in attendance which where, the host choir, Mount Zion Chapel in the Hospital and two guests choir from Foursquare Gospel Church, Ita-Oshin and the Egba Musical Society led by Chief ‘Bunmi Dipeolu who also coordinate musical aspect of the service. 

The invited saxophonist also added colour to the occasion with his dexterity on the saxophone.  Also a big plus to the carol service was the package of sumptuous meal with refreshments as take-away for both the dignitaries and members of staff courtesy of Provost and Medical Director at the occasion.

The 2018 edition of Nine Lessons and Carols of the Hospital was round off with closing prayer said by Pastor James. O. Oyekunle, the Pastor in charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus the Rock Zone and who was a retired Pension Desk Officer of the Hospital.

Ogunlesi (Past Provost and Medical Director) and his wife, Dr. A. O. Akinhanmi (Past Provost and Medical Director) and his wife, Mr. B. O. Adebari, (former Head of Administration and Secretary to the Board, Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta), Dr. G. Amoo, (Head, Clinical Services), Dr. O. O. Feyisitan (Medical Director, Hossana Hospital, Ilaro) representative of Administrative Secretary of Independent National Electoral Commission in Ogun State, Pastor Oyelami, Mr. L. A. Owodeyi (Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission) Dr. M. O. Alao (Chief Consultant gynaecologist at Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba) representative of District Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church, Ita-Oshin I, Rev. Abikoye, Representative of Vice Chancellor FUNAAB, Head DSS in Abeokuta North, representative of Head of Federal Character Commission and many others graced the occasion.







It was a tradition established by the founding fathers of this Hospital and past Provost and Medical Directors have sustained the tradition.

The tradition is symbolic and an opportunity for the Provost and Medical Director to have a warm rapport with the in-patients of the Hospital on Christmas day.

Dr. Timothy O. Adebowale, the Provost and Medical Director of this Hospital and the top management staff as part of annual tradition of interacting with the inpatients did the same on Tuesday 25th December, 2018.

As early as 7.30am on Christmas day the Provost was already out at the Hospital’s Wards area with other members of staff who dressed in gorgeous and attractive attires ready to felicitate with the patients of the Hospital both in Aro and Lantoro.

After the opening prayer, the Provost, Dr. Adebowale with team started the interaction in company of Father Christmas and the carol group singing melodious songs moving from one ward in the Aro complex to the other.

 In all the wards visited at Aro main complex of the Hospital, the Provost and his entourage were warmly received by the ward managers and the gifts packaged for the patients were distributed y the Father Christmas with the Provost shaking hands with the patients.

The Provost and Medical Director interaction with patients on Christmas day train moved from the main complex of the Hospital at Aro to the Lantoro Annex of the Hospital in a convoy and on his arrival at the Annex at Lantoro the team was welcomed with pomp and pageantry.

With the welcome over, the interaction train moved quickly to all the wards at the Annex dancing and singing songs as the Provost shake hands and also present Christmas gifts to all the in-patients who were very happy and joyous to receive the Provost, Dr. Adebowale and his entourage.

The Provost interaction with patients was rounded off with prayers offered for the patients of the Hospital, the Hospital and Nigeria as a whole.

Side attractions at the occasion were the donation of consumables to the patients of the Hospital by Lizzy and Edward foundation a non-governmental organization based in Lagos.  Also the Ogun State Television (OGTV) interviewed the Provost on the essence of the day and he graciously answered all the questions asked.

The event was rounded off with a Christmas party held for patient both in Aro cafeteria and Lantoro Annex simultaneously with food and drinks in abundance to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ courtesy of the Provost and Medical Director.

The newly constituted Management Board of Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta by the Federal Government of Nigeria, held its maiden meeting on Wednesday 28th March, 2018 at Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta.

The inaugural board meeting which had series of events lined up by the hospital to welcome the chairman and other board members started with an all-important meeting  with the top management staff/principal officers of the hospital and Unions/Associations within the hospital.

The Management of Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta under the able leadership of Dr. T. O. Adebowale has procure a brand new 500KVA Perkins generator as part of its mission to provide excellent clinical service delivery, training and research in a conducive environment with community participation and international collaboration.

The new generator which is part of 2018 capital projects budget of the Hospital approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Muhammed Buhari has been delivered by the contractor handling the project to generator house at Electrical Maintenance department of the Hospital and since been installed.

On Friday 4th February, 2018 after the delivery and installation of the new generator, the acting Provost and also Head of Clinical Services who stood in for the Provost who was on annual leave was at the generator house with Dr. P. O. Onifade, Head, Research and Training, members of staff at Internal Audit and Stores departments of the Hospital to inspect the new generator as it was officially tested and powered to serve the Hospital.

The end user department members of staff and head of Electrical Maintenance Mr. K. Y. Magaji was also at the venue with the contractor to witness the lightning up of the Hospital with the brand new 500KVA Perkins generator.

The President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR has approved the appointment of Dr. Timothy Adebowale as the Provost and Medical Director of the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Ogun State for a four (4) year term with effect from Sunday, 31st December, 2017.
